Weather:
Unseasonably warm!!!
Light southerly breeze prevailed throughout morning and by 1 p.m. NO wind
and everything came to abrupt halt.
Temperature (high): 26c
Humidity: 49% dropping to 45%
Cloud Cover: No cloud clover except for occasional thin veil of cirrus
clouds not easily detected without polarizing sunglasses.
Observations:
Most birds easily seen without aid of binoculars. Winds were consistant as
day before when birds were high sailing specs. Upper level wind today was
same, coming out of NW but birds were much lower today. No wind by 1 p.m.
and things came to halt.
Eastern Bluebird
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Palm Warbler
American Goldfinch (several small groups passing through)
Canada Goose - a single bird heading west
Northern Flicker - 2
Cedar Waxwing
Several species of butterfly including Monarch's (2)
Predictions:
more warm weather.
We need another blast of cold air out of the north to get birds moving
through.

The Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch is held on the grounds of the Inn at Afton, located
on the southern side of Rockfish Gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just above
where I-64 (exit 99) intersects with the southern end of the Skyline Drive and
the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, just east of Waynesboro, VA and
approximately 22 miles west of Charlottesville, VA.
