Observers:
Visitors:
John and June Clark, who just moved here from Georgia this past summer,
and the regulars including Bill and Katie James, Chip Dondrea, Baron
Gibson, Andy Biggs, Joyce Holt, John and Sharon Williamson, Dillard
Childress, and Roger Reynolds.
Weather:
Light breeze out of the NW most of the day until the last hour when the
wind was almost nonexistent. Temp. range 10-17C. Clear, cloudless skies
until the 1-2 hour when clouds started moving in. Visibility on both sides
of the ridge was excellent.
Raptor Observations:
Most migrants were a good distance out on the west side. Some very high,
but a few in close.
Two adult BEs, 1 at 12:50pm and 1 at 4:05pm
Non-raptor Observations:
A few passerines were migrating, mostly unidentified warblers but a male
Rose-breasted Grosbeak was nice. Also a few Blue Jays were moving. Only
one migrating chimney swift was seen today, a big change from yesterday
when they were noted throughout the day. A lot of woodpecker activity
around the lookout today. Four species were heard or seen, Pileated,
Hairy, Downy and Red-bellied.
Monarch butterflies were moving through but not in large numbers as on
previous days.
Predictions:
Should be interesting, there are still a lot of hawks in the pipeline.
