Official Counter: Tad Finnell
Observers: Baron Gibson, Dillard Childress, Hudgins, Jim Hylton
Visitors:
Lots and lots. Ralph Pruitt brought a church group from Martinsville for
the early hours, and the remnants of a Roanoke Valley Bird Club field trip
stopped by midday.
Visitors in and out all day
Weather:
A hazy day with fog in the valley and low ceiling. Strong high altitude
southerly winds in direct contrast with primarily easterly lower winds,
and some shower activity during the course of the morning. Birds didn't
seem to be too eager to migrate.
Raptor Observations:
Two great close looks at Peregrines as they soared by with nary a flap, and
a close 4th year Bald eagle at 2:35.
Practically all the birds coming by today were using ridge lift.
Non-raptor Observations:
Predictions:
No predictions, but if we don't get some birds in the next two days,
they're probably passed.
