Observation start time: 09:45:00
Observation end   time: 16:45:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Mike Purdy

Observers:        Goffs, Jim Hylton, John Williamson

Visitors:
Cory Goff and his mom Patti came up with his grandparents from Georgia.
Later his other grandmother from Big Island joined them. We had visiting
birders from England and Australia. They didn't stay long but we were able
to show them their first Sharp-shinned Hawks, when 4 made an appearance at
the same time. Also visitors from Kentucky and Utah stopped to ask about
what we were doing.

Weather:
Mostly sunny, light breeze out of the W and SW. Very few clouds. Temp.
range 50-68F.

Raptor Observations:
Most hawks appeared out over the valley on the west side. Several were
fairly close and below eye level flying just above the treetops .
Highlight of the day was an adult Golden Eagle and a Peregrine circling
together right in front of the overlook. They stayed in view for several
minutes until the Peregrine headed on to the SW and the Golden came
straight over us as it crossed the ridge heading SE.
During the morning an immature Sharp-shinned Hawk perched right above
the peach tree 35 ft. away from  us. It watched us for a minute and then
moved on. We thought it may have been hunting. A lot of the accipiters we
saw today appeared to have full crops.

Non-raptor Observations:
A few Blue Jays and Chimney Swifts were migrating and the first
Yellow-rumped Warbler I've seen this fall was at the overlook.

Predictions:
Possible rain, a cold front is moving this way.
