OK folks - this just in from our lobbyists in Richmond...the fisherman are
putting up a fight... they want to use horseshoe crabs for bait until there are
no more horseshoe crabs...we still need to write and call some Delegates -
here are the people we need to write to...
***Given that this is highly likely to be in the Chesapeake Subcommittee, our
top target legislators are still Northern Virginia Democrats David Bulova
(Fairfax County), Steve Shannon (Fairfax County), and David Poisson (Loudon
County).***
***The business-oriented Republicans on the Committee need to hear the
message that this bill will allow all three impacted industries (fishing,
biomedical, and tourism) to thrive in as much as the fishing industry does have
alternatives -- and that the failure of this bill not only imperils the tourism
industry, but, eventually, biomedical and fishing as well. Those subcommittee
members are: Kathy Byron (chairman, Campbell and Bedford Counties), Ben Cline
(Lexington, Rockbridge, and Amherst), Bobby Orrock (an agriculture teacher from
Spotsylvania County), and Danny Marshall (a concrete contractor from Danville,
Spotsylvania, and Henry).***
