Today on a whim I decided to check Greenfield
and found a good assortment of waterfowl. Not
being able to attend the compilation after the
Fincastle Christmas Count and having heard nothing
about what was seen that day I thought I should
at least post species seen today, especially since
a couple are good birds for our area.
The most obvious was a Snow Goose, standing
alone among a multitude of mallards. Other waterfowl
noted were Redhead, C. Merganser, Gadwall, GW Teal,
Coot, a single female Bufflehead, and possibly several
Pintail back in the tall grass. Maybe we'll finally get
some of those northern waterfowl moving our way.
