Hello all
This afternoon Pat & I decided to venture out for a short jaunt to Bells Lane &
to the Swoope area . We wanted to see if the winter storm dropped any different
birds in on our County . We were not disappointed . Over on Rt. 876 just up
from where Rt. 708 intersects with Rt. 876 there is a feeder lot near the Riley
farm which had about 250+ Canada's & mixed in with them were one Snow Goose &
two Greater White -fronted Geese . It was fun watching these two keeping the
Canada's at bay . Also in this feeder lot was about 100+ American Pipits &
about 150+ Horned Lark . They kept on the move & it was hard to find any
Lapland's if they were mixed in . At Smith's there were 6 Gadwall , one Greater
Scaup & 2 Hooded Merganser's .
At Bells Lane most of the ducks that were there yesterday have gone . But we
did manage to get 12 Wood Duck's , 3 Gadwall , & 8 Hooded Merganser's . At the
pond behind Hardee's in Verona had about 350+ canada's with the one Blue morph
Snow Goose .
After work tomorrow I will get out & do a full scale pond check in Augusta
County . plus I am hoping to get some photos of the 2 G W F Geese .
