Hi all,
In brief, redpolls (all Commons so far) are everywhere. The Bodie-Pea Island
CBC in northeastern North Carolina had about 170 -- every party reported
them. Even one redpoll is extremely rare here; most lifelong NC birders had
only
ever seen one before in the state. Today's Back Bay CBC had over 70 birds,
including a flock of 62 at False Cape State Park. The Ocean City CBC had
probably around 170 as well. Reports reach as far north as southern New
Jersey.
Yesterday, four were at Sunset Beach (Northampton County), one was on the CBBT,
and one was at Arlington, Custis Tomb. Keep watching for them, especially
after cool fronts, esp. on the coasts. The Sunset Beach birds were feeding in
the dunes on goldenrod.
