Hello all
Today Pat got a call from one of our Bird Club members ( Robert Plank ) that
over in the Coiner Springs Park there is a Great Horned Owl's nest in one of
the White Pine trees . So Pat & I went over & sure enough there it was about
30+ feet up in a White Pine tree . The nest is next to the trunk of the tree .
In the nest it looks like one young bird that is molting from its down to
feathers . Near by one of the adults was standing "guard " . A lot of Crow's
would come by & dive at the Owls . After leaving Coiner Springs we went over
by the old Dupont Ponds & here we had an Osprey on a snag over South River , a
Pied - billed Grebe & a Black -crowned Night Heron . On Bells Lane there were 2
Shoveler's , 8 + Gadwall , 4 Green -winged Teal , 4 Ruddy , 1 Ring - necked
Duck , 1 Greater Scaup , 2 Coots , 2 Blue - winged Teal , & 6 Greater
Yellowlegs . Also Tree No. rough - winged & Barn Swallow . Thanks to Robert
for the great find .
