This is a great time of year.  In getting the dog ready for his beach walk, I
looked up this morning at 0715 to see four adult Great Cormorants passing
directly over the house, just over the treetops, throats and flank patches
blazing white in the morning sun.  I've almost never seen this species in
active
migration and never over land - although they were just 200 m from the Bay.  A
very nice start to the day!  More martins, Laughing Gulls, Osprey are filtering
in, and Chipping Sparrows are joining juncos on sidewalks.  Just 2 more weeks
for Chimney Swifts and Orchard Orioles and hummers here!
