I went out to Fort Story, Rudee Inlet, and Back Bay NWR this past Saturday
hoping to see alcids. I did not see any, unfortunately. I did see the
Red-necked Grebe at Fort Story. I hardly saw any landbirds at Back Bay. I
went to Grandview Preserve in Hampton yesterday. I saw the big flock of
Brant (counting at least 250) at the north end of the beach. I had great
looks at Red-throated and Common Loons here. I was able to see both
species, in the scope at the same time, just beyond the breaking waves. I am
glad to see all the postings -- I really did not need to post my sightings
:).
