I am a birder from Dayton, Ohio. I visited Manassas National Battlefield on
May 1st, and had a good day birding. The highlight was a Golden-Winged Warbler
on the Chinn Ridge Trail Loop (2nd Manassas Battlefield). My other sightings
included:
Northern Parula
Magnolia Warbler
Black-Throated Green Warbler
Bay-Breasted Warbler
Ovenbird
one or two unidentified imm. warblers (Cape May?)
Yellow-Throated Vireo
Red-Eyed Vireo
Eastern Wood Pewee
Eastern Phoebe
Great-Crested Flycatcher (4 or 5)
Scarlet Tanager
Pileated Woodpecker
Swainson's Thrush
Brown Thrasher
Chipping Sparrow
Wood Ducks
I liked the battlefield's bird habitat, which include woods, wood margins,
and some unsprayed fields.
