After running some errands I made a check of Crockett Park and Germantown
Lake to see how much open water there was and if so what might be there. In
addition to the 60-70 Common Canada Geese, there was one that I think was a
Richardson's given its relative size. This was about noon today. There
were also a few Mallards, Canvasbacks, one Northern Pintail and one American
Coot. On the way home, I took a route where I saw a large flock of American
Pipits last week to see if they were still around - they were not - but I
did see a flock of 30-40 Horned Larks. They were in a field adjacent to SR
603 just north of SR 28 in Catlett.
