(OK, sorry, I know DC isn't in Virginia but it's close!)
I noted that an influx of migrants had been reported on the Natioinal Mall in
DC recently. This afternoon around 5:30 as I walked along the canyon between
2 buildings at Federal Triangle, I heard the unmistakeable "See-See-See!" call
of a GC Kinglet. I stopped and looked up in the foliage of one of the few
landscape locust trees planted there and, after a few seconds, spotted the
little
rascal sure enough, not far above my head. Meanwhile passers-by began to slow
down and look up to try to figure out what I was looking at... Anyway, it was
unexpected and fun to hear and see in the urban core environment. Cheers,
