Flickers and Phoebes were the dominant migratory birds at Riverbend Park
meadow (Fairfax Cty, VA) this morning, but other signs that the fall
migration is progressing were three Ruby-crowned Kinglets and a
Golden-crowned Kinglet (seen well by me, and independently heard by another
birder). There were still some warblers around in small
numbers--Black-throated Green, Redstart, Parula, Magnolia and
Yellowthroat--and also a couple of Scarlet Tanagers. A Sharpie and a
Red-shouldered Hawk helped livened things up a bit. Bluebirds, Robins and
Cedar Waxwings were indulging on this year's impressive grape crop.
