Dear VA birders: I apologize for this late posting on Saturday's Bird
Walk at the Blue Ridge Center. I sent it off yesterday but I
apparently sent it off into the ether. You all will have already seen
Laura Catterton's posting with the details on the Lark Sparrow.
Good Birding

Subject: Blue Ridge Center Birds September 27
Dear Birders:
9 enthusiastic birders came out for the first monthly Loudoun
Wildlife Conservancy-sponsored Bird Walk at the Blue Ridge Center for
Environmental Stewardship this morning, on what turned out to be a
fine day. Birders included Jon Little and Tom Bjorkman, co-leaders,
as well as Laura and Alan Catterton, Ron Staley, Pat and Ken Hunter,
Del Sargent, and Joe Coleman.
Highlights included an immature Lark Sparrow, a Philadelphia Vireo, 4
Red-headed Woodpeckers (two immature), and 3 Red-breasted Grosbeaks.
In addition Jon saw an unidentified "nice bird." We found 47 species

enjoy the land. Center staff asks that visitors call ahead, email
Center naturalist Fiona Harrison in advance, or stop by the
administration building off Rt 671 near the Neersville Fire House
before entering Center property. (540) 668-7640, or
fharrison@xxxxxxxxx. Ms. Harrison invites birders to call ahead to
find out more about the trails and birding opportunities. She also
invites you to become a part of the Center's volunteer group and to
let her know what you find.
