In light of all the Red-necked Grebe sightings throughout our area I
thought this would be of some interest

greetings fellow banders thought i would pass on that today we
banded a red
necked grebe that landed on a hwy the other day thinking it was a river.
the
bird spend a night in a bathtub and ate ample minnows that it was happy
to
pluck out of the bath. It was released below a dam which is our only
open
water for miles. We rarely see these birds in the summer so getting one
in
the winter is extraordinary. Another amazing no standard banding bird.
What
code am i supposed to use to note that this bird was not a normal in the
wild capture and release ?Thanks in advance. By the way the bird took to
the
river looking very healthy.
