All: there is also a no kill shelter in the area called the Feline
Foundation that will capture kittens (and cats). They take them - get them
vet care and "foster" them out till they get permanent homes. We got our
fur baby from them and have never regretted it.
Just a thought for those who are concerned.
Cheers, Janet Martin

Anyone venturing near there with transportation can take the kitten to =
the DC Humane Society. Here is a link for info - =
http://www.washhumane.org/directionsDC.htm
Apparently they accept drop-offs if you can catch the poor thing.
Directions to the shelter
From Downtown and NW DC=20
Take Massachusetts Avenue to Mount Vernon Square (between 9th and 7th =
Streets). Go straight down north side of Mount Vernon Square to 7th =
Street. You will now be facing down New York Avenue--just stay on it =
about 8 minutes to the shelter, which is on the right at 1201 New York =
Ave, NE. (Useful landmark: Shelter is at the light right after the only =
overpass you will go under.)

The Rufous Hummingbird was in the Ripley Garden
this afternoon, before 3:00 PM, in the tall Arbor Vitae
still lit by the sun.
Also in the corner of the A&I building by the
feeder was a little kitten, meowing piteously.
I hope for two things: (1) that the kitten leaves
the hummingbird alone tonight, and (2) that I have
not inadvertently started the 'cat thread'! Prove
me right, MDOSPREY readers!
