Subject: Northern Neck @ Dameron Marsh & Environs
My hubby, Lance was able to go birding at Dameron Marsh on 10/11 and 10/16.
He was happy to report 41 Species total. Here is his list:
Great birds - Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow - (many seen both days and a
Life Bird for Lance), House Wren, Boat-tailed Grackles, Seaside Sparrow, Sora -
(emerging from marsh grass & probably in migration), Clapper Rail - (3
different birds, one flying, one emerging from grass, and one running on
mudflats), Semi-palmated Plover, American Bittern - (on road coming into
parking area & stayed 10 minutes).
Also Belted Kingfisher, American Kestrel, Bald Eagle, Common
Yellowthroat, Brown Thrasher, Northern Flicker, Royal Tern, Greater Yellowlegs,
Killdeer, Red-tailed Hawk, Song Sparrow, and Eastern Meadowlark
Eastern Bluebird, Northern Cardinal, Mourning Doves, European Starlings,
Eastern Wood Peewee, Yellow Rumped Warbler - (They're back), American Crow,
Northern Mockingbird, Double-crested Cormorant, Great Black-backed Gull,
Herring Gull, Laughing Gull, Great Blue Heron, Mute Swan, Chipping Sparrow,
Brown Pelican, Great Egret, Savannah Sparrow, Mallard, Turkey Vulture and Downy
Woodpecker.
