The Hampton Roads Bird Club conducted the Newport News CBC on Dec. 14,
2002. The area includes most of Newport News, all of Hampton & Poquoson,
and a good portion of York County. 39 persons were divided into 13
The weather was mostly clear, the temperature was 46 degrees and thewind
was west at 15-20 MPH in the morning. By mid-aftrenoon the temperaturewas
54 degrees and the wind had dropped about 5 MPH. The total species was114
which is a little below the recent years average of 116. The totalof
individuals was 29,828 which is just a little below average. Highlights
the count are shown below. Species not mentioned were within historic'71)
ranges.
