Subject: Marsh Wren, Lincoln's Sparrow, Wilson's Warbler, etc. Blue Ridge
Center, Loudoun Co

The highlights of the 65 species seen on the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy's
regular monthly bird walk at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental
Stewardship in northwestern Loudoun County this morning were 1 MARSH WREN,
2 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, several thrush species, including 1 VEERY, 5
SWAINSON'S THRUSHES, 3 WOOD THRUSHES, 11 warbler species (many well-seen),
including 2 WILSON'S WARBLERS, several SCARLET TANAGERS, a LINCOLN'S
SPARROW, several ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS, a BALTIMORE ORIOLE, and very
large flocks of STARLINGS (over a 1,000) and COMMON GRACKLES (over 1,400
in 1 flock plus another very large flock). A few juvenile CEDAR WAXWINGS
actively fly-catching was also nice. The 10-person walk was led by Kurt
Gaskill.

The walk was along the west side of the field leading to the power cut from
the end of Sawmill Road. We then tallied at the Visitor Center and also
birded some around it.
