Howdy all,
The calmer winds today allowed up to open all our nets finally. We started
the morning with a few HERMIT THRUSHES which seem to be missing from the area.
A
cloud cover returned around 10am or so and pretty much zapped the energy out
of everything, including us. We ended the day banding 16 birds.
We did find our first COMMON YELLOWTHROAT in the area today. And the number
of SWAMP SPARROWS still remains very high. CAROLINA CHICKADEES were busy
checking out nesting spots, while a pair of GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS put on a
show on
how to glean by hovering. All in all, it was a nice day at the station.
