Howdy all,
A nice day to be at the station, but we didn't catch much for birds. Kind of
depressing in that aspect. We did catch our first YELLOW PALM WARBLER today.
We had seen a few yesterday. We also banded our first NORTHERN PARULA as well
(the first one caught was a recapture from last season). And speaking of that,
we caught another PARULA that was banded from last season again today
(different bird than the first). Looks like all the parulas are coming home!
As for new migrants at the station, we had our first Tri-colored Heron show
up today and also had our first Purple Martins fly over. I would bet we missed
a few Martins the last few days. Can't get them all.
Totals for 4/6:
Yellow Palm Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
Northern Parula 1
Hairy Woodpecker 1
Carolina Chickadee 1
TOTAL --------------------- 5
Next few days look, well, not good for banding. Lots of wind and some rain
possible. But I have my fingers crossed.
Cheers,
Jethro
