Howdy all,
I am not sure I could call today a banding day or not. I only managed to
catch a total of eight birds today, one of which was a recapture. There was a
few
birds around at sunrise but they disappeared very quickly. I had 7 birds on
the 6:30am net run. One on the next net run at 7:15 and that was it. The birds
cleared out of the area or all decided to go back to bed one of the two. It was
totally silent after about 7am. It was very eerie. I couldn't take anymore so
I left early.
The birds were:
Prairie Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
Prothonotary Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Swamp Sparrow 1
Hermit Thrush 2 one was a recapture
The only new bird I had for the station was an Eastern Kingbird. At that too,
was before 7am.
I am not sure what tomorrow is going to hold. The weather, once again, looks
iffy.
Cheers,
Jethro
