[va-bird] Fauquier/Prince William landfills

VA Birders,

Today (30 November) at the Fauquier County landfill near Warrenton, I had 4
Lesser Black-backed Gulls (one 1st-winter, two 2nd-winter, and 1 adult) among
275 Ring-billed and 55 Herring Gulls.

I then went to the Prince William County landfill near Dale City, where I ran
into Kurt Gaskill, who had already seen one 4th-winter/adult Lesser
Black-backed Gull. We saw an (the same?) adult and a 1st-winter Lesser
Black-backed Gull before Kurt left, and I had another Lesser in nearly complete
juvenal plumage after Kurt departed. In addition to hundreds of Laughing,
Herring, and Ring-billed Gulls (and 60 or more Great Black-backeds), I saw a
Common Raven and at least 5 Bald Eagles there.

Also in Prince William County, I found a small Canada Goose, apparently of the
race hutchinsii, among 400 or so large-form Canadas at a pond on the north side
of Rt. 653 (Parkgate Drive) about 0.3 miles east of Rt. 654 (Brookfield Road)
just southeast of Nokesville.

Good birding,
