We had a Connecticut Warbler, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, and Philadelphia
Vireo, all the while wishing Mr. Abrams was there to see them.
Hello Listers,
Thank you for the well wishes, Todd. On that day I was escorting Derek
Moore, OBE, around northern Virginia. We had several good birds ourselves,
including five Philadelphia Vireos. We had an empidonax with a fairly bold
yellow
coloration on the breast, belly and flanks, but as you know, yellow on those
parts on a Fall empid does not eliminate Acadian Flycatcher which in both juv
and adult can have a conspicuous yellow wash on the undersides. Of the ten
empidonax we saw that day we could only call one to species, a Least Fly.
Good birding,
Bob Abrams
