Apologies in advance if the 'Annandale' Mississippi Kite has already been
reported. I only returned home today, with VA-BIRD switched off while away,
and
I have not had time to look up recent posting in the archives.
That said, my homecoming had a couple of surprises. As I got out of the car,
the familiar outline of a Mississippi Kite appeared a few hundred feet above
my head! So it would appear that we may have a repeat of last year's nesting
near here. [I live in western Annandale, on the border with Fairfax City.]
There was also a Veery, attempting unsuccessfully to get a drink from my
garden pond.
