An adult, alternate plumage California Gull (fitting the description of
the bird reported by Michael Bowen on 23 March) was present among the
gull flock off the mouth of Hunting Creek around sunset on Sat, 27
March.
27 March 2004: 1800 to 1900 EST
scoping exposed flats and Potomac River from Stone Bridge (GW Parkway)
over Hunting Creek;
21 C, mostly cloudy; N-ly breeze 5 to 10 km/hr; low tide circa 1915;
very extensive flats both E and W of GW Parkway, but no larids to the
West; most of the gulls were in front of the Porto Vechio building and
not on the exposed flats due E of the bridge;

Osprey 4 (2 pairs; nests on pole S of Hunting Point Apts and on crane
on southern barge)
