There has been an EARED GREBE at Craney Island in Portsmouth for some time,
I believe. I was told about this bird by David Hughes and others.
But, the bird is still present at Craney, as of yesterday. It was in the
middle cell (which was quite full of water) at the western portion, in the
company of RUDDY DUCKS.
There are still shorebirds around. Saw DUNLIN, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and some
PEEP (some sounded like WESTERN SANDPIPERS). A few CASPIAN TERNS with one
or two ROYALS are still present. Good numbers of NORTHERN SHOVELER were
seen and a FALCON (pretty sure a PEREGRINE) buzzed the shorebirds -- that
bird was moving very fast.
