The Eastern Shore of Virginia Saw-whet banding project began two nights
ago (Oct. 25th). Due to the low numbers of owls caught so far in the
Northeast, I was expecting a wait for my first owl here. The first
night yielded one red phase screech owl. The winds calmed a bit last
night, and I was nicely surprised to find a HY saw-whet in the nets
this morning! Bring 'em on!
