Despite diligent searching by 7 birders, it was rather slow at Dyke today. The
lack of Pied-billed Grebes and most passerines was disappointing. Perhaps
kinglets and creepers will show up tomorrow since the cold front has passed
through. Ducks and yellowlegs were plentiful though, with both species of the
latter all over the aquatic vegetation. An immature Red-shouldered Hawk in the
picnic area added a moment of excitement and three probably newly arrived Swamp
Sparrows were quite nice. The complete list of 44 species follows:
