[va-bird] Dyke Marsh hunting

I second that motion and I think it would be great to have the hunting regs and
days posted where it is easy to see, so that the non-hunting public can turn
away and visit another park / preserve on hunting days so as not to interfere
or accidentally get hit. I have noticed this practice in other locations and
thought it was a grand idea.
Just to set the record straight, I don't hunt, but I don't have a problem with
it. In fact, last month I let some hunters use my scope in spite of their half
hearted accusations that I was a member of (gasp) PETA or Greenpeace visiting
the refuge to shut them down.
An ecosystem in balance is a beautiful thing. Hunters can certainly help keep
certain species in check.

walking in Dyke, scouting out the birds) - seems to me it would be a good
idea to get an interpretation of the law from whoever enforces it...my
understanding is that the floating blinds can be used in MD waters, and
technically the Potomac is all MD waters. However, I have also heard that
there are only certain days that they can hunt in the Dyke Marsh area, and
Saturday ain't one of them. Let's get ready for next year with a clear
understanding of the law and the game warden's # programmed into our cell
phones (the game wardens can ask for permits - it's their job, they carry
guns)..Rich Rieger
