VA BIRDers,
I am pleased to report that Kim Peacock stepped in as the impromptu leader
for the regular Sunday morning Field Trip at Dyke Marsh Sept 17, sponsored
by the Friends of Dyke Marsh and free to all. Kim reports mosquitoes
outnumbered observers by several orders of magnitude, but managed to have a
fine trip. Highlights were Green Heron (never common at Dyke), Bald Eagle,
Cooper's Hawk, RT Hummingbird, Blue-winged Warbler, Nashville Warbler,
Northern Parula, Magnolia Warbler, Black-throated Blue, and American
Redstart.
The week before, Sandy Farkas lead the crew and reported highlights of
Chestnut-sided Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, and Palm Warbler.
On behalf of the Friends of Dyke Marsh, let me extend a well-deserved thank
you to Kim and Sandy!
With this wonderful weather front passing through, I think this coming
weekend could be very nice!
