[va-bird] Dyke Marsh 4-30-06

VA Birders,
 
A nice crowd turned out today for the weekly Sunday morning Dyke Marsh  walk, 
which is open to all and begins at 8 AM.  A total of 55 species were  seen or 
heard including those I saw later at Hunting Creek.  One of  the best 
highlights of the day was a good showing by both Orchard and  Baltimore 
Orioles.  We 
also saw a total of five Warbling Vireos including  two pairs hanging out near 
two locations where the species has nested  before: the trees near the 
restrooms in the picnic area, and the clearing where  the path turns left in 
Dyke 
Marsh.  Someone with sharp eyes also spotted an  active Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 
nest at the beginning of the boardwalk.   We all enjoyed a singing Yellow 
Warbler and close looks at a Palm Warbler  and White-eyed Vireo.  I have posted
