After seeing reports of the ducks at Belmont Bay, I know where all the Ruddys
went...
The Dyke Marsh strollers had a beautiful, balmy, albeit breezy morning to
peruse the offerings of Dyke Marsh. A steady southerly breeze was blamed for
keeping songbird activity to a low level, but we had a good raptor morning w/
10 Bald Eagles (3 adult, 7 imm.) spotted on the flats. A Sharpie blew by us
on the trail but then afforded good looks as it circled and soared above the
woods on the wind. A Northern Harrier worked the marsh, followed by a
probable Coopers (judged by head size and tail length) - the end of the walk
afforded us a great scope view of a Cooper's perched in a locust at the
picnic area. We also had a small snake slither across the path - one of the
walkers thought it was a Decay(?) snake - 6 - 8" in length, grayish w/ a
brown spot on it's head...fun to see in mid-November...the list follows...
