Hello..
We had a fine (but chilly) Saturday morning birding Dutch Gap. There was a
skim of ice on some of the water in the marsh, which made for some
interesting photos of Gadwalls, Am. Wigeons and the ever-present Canada
Geese, along  with 4 or 5 Great Blue Herons.
The images can be found here..

Also, I have been seeing a Cardinal without any tail feathers for the past
few days. I don't think it's one of my resident birds. We were speculating
as to how this unfortunate fellow lost his tail..Anyone with any ideas?

It doesn't seem to affect his flying much, but we figured his balance must
be suffering somewhat.
Also, our neighbor called yesterday morning. She had a Yellow Rump that had
hit her window, so she picked it up, barely breathing and put it in a box
and brought it in the house. She called me to get the name of out local
rehabber in case it survived, and during the course of our phone
conversation, the bird recovered and gave merry chase all over the house. It
of course, was attracted to the skylights, where they were finally able to
net it and let it out.
I suggested doing something about that window :)
Happy Birding!
