The two immature Coops that fledged from the nest across the street are still
hanging out, although perhaps a little quieter now. Yesterday, after the
violent thunderstorm, I saw first one and then the other perched in the bare
branches of a dying tree, spreading wings and tails in the afternoon sun. A
variety of passerines perched nearby, keeping an eye on the bumbling
youngsters,
apparently not concerned that these neophyte, waterlogged raptors posed a great
danger.
