It somewhat disheartens me that a physician who deals with cancer patients
(I hope this isn't an oncologist) is concerned about the presence of Black
Vultures near the entrance to a medical building. As a cancer patient myself,
I
find that absurd. I wonder how many people are noticing these birds anyhow. A
lot of people seem to overlook the beauty in the world around us.
I would have been delighted to see a young Black Vulture hanging around the
building while I entered for chemotherapy. I should hope that other cancer
patients aren't as pessimistic or self-dooming as this physician believes. If
they
are, he needs to reevaluate his approach to patient care. I agree with Gwyn
and her husband that cancer patients have far more important things to be
concerned with than worrying that a few big black birds are there to carry them
away or warn of their impending death.
In my humble opinion, if one does worry that the presence of these birds are
an omen for their prognosis, they have far bigger issues than cancer.
On the other hand, I believe Vultures are related to Storks...So, if this
physician is worried that these birds might be upsetting to cancer and other
potentially terminally ill patients, I suppose the obstetricians and fertility
specialists in the same building should be able to capitalize on their
presence.
Instead of evicting these amazing creatures, why not adopt them as building
mascots? In doing so, educate people about Black Vultures while dismissing
silly notions of impending death. Perhaps if people learned a little about
these
amazing birds and the important role they play on our earth, it might give
them a different perspective of the world around them. Wouldn't that be a
wonderful thing...
Cheers everyone~
