Fred Attwood let me tag along as he did the BBS this morning. We had a great
time, finding Yellow-throated Vireo, many White-eyed Vireo, OVENBIRD,
Scarlet Tanager, Baltimore Oriole, and Yellow-billed Cuckoo. I'm sure Fred
will list all the details later. The non-avian highlight was seeing three
River Otters: an adult and two juveniles. The little ones were so cute. We
watched for about five minutes as they played in the water and groomed each
other. They did not seem to be too afraid of us, and we could hear them
chirp to each other in a high pitch chip note. I was just totally amazed to
find such creatures in the middle of Fairfax County. This section of
Difficult Run is in Oakton, off of Samaga Road.
