Hi y'all,
This is probably my last report of the summer.
From June 5 to 18 on several mornings I was out
in the Difficult Run Stream Valley (mostly
Oakton) doing the Fairfax Audubon Breeding Bird
Survey. I surveyed 79 sites most of which are
wooded, though many of the spots were previously
wooded and are now suburbanized or urbanized.
Most of the woods is narrow, within earshot of
backyards. I covered most of the area along
Difficult Run between Fairfax County Government
Center and Flint Hill School/Oak Marr to Hunter
Mill Rd. This survey is similar to USGS survey
except the sites are about .5 km apart (instead
of .5 mile), the count time is 5 minutes(instead
of 3), and most of the sites are covered on foot
and are not along roads.
Here are my results. The first number is the
total; the second is the percent of the sites
that had this species.

I hope you all have a great summer full of
fantastic views of wonderful birds doing
fascinating things!
