Hi all,
Thanks to Kurt's directions in a previous post I was able to locate and
photograph one of the Dickcissels in Fauquier Co. this morning. It was just
west of the house next the mini airplane hangers on Soweto Road (611).
Also present were Grasshopper Sparrows and a Prairie Warbler.
On the way home stopped by the large pond on Belvoir Rd and found
a Great Blue Heron, Canada Geese, 2 Double-crested Comorants
and a pair of Ring-necked Ducks. Finally stopped at Sky Meadows State
Park to get some pictures of the Red-headed Woodpeckers that hang out
along the park rd fence. Without a doubt the best concentration I've ever seen!
Found one nest and counted 6. I'm sure there are more...
Good Birding,
Matt Orsie
