David Hughes and I spent twp quiet and frustrating hours at Craney this am-
no water and very, very few birds, especially Shorebirds. There was no sign
of the Heerman's Gull even though the pipe was flowing and gulls were there
(altho very few gulls too).
We had only 29 species, and, except for a fair # of Brown Pelicans, numbers
were low. We had only 3 Shorebird species: Whimbrel (1), Killdeer (8-10), and
Least Sandpipers (4-6), and 1 Tern Species: Caspian (6), plus 1 Osprey and 1
Cooper's Hawk - and not much else. Rain is supposed to be arrivng shortly and
Craney might be well worth checking after the rains cease, if as much rain
falls as is anticipated.
