At the monthly Hampton Roads Bird Club meeting last night, Karen Frankie, who works at Craney Island, announced that it is closed to birders for the next two weeks due to work that's going on there. She wasn't confident that it would re-open to birders at the end of two weeks (due to potential delays in work caused by weather), but it's not a permanent closure.
