VA Birders,
Twice last weekend I found Mourning Dove feathers in the yard, so I suspected a
hawk. Tuesday morning a Cooper's Hawk suddenly swooped in at the feeder,
scattering birds in all directions. It missed and came back to sit in the tree
near the feeders. Judging from the relatively small size it is probably a male.
After a few moments it made a silent glide into the woods.
This morning (6/17/05) he was back. Again birds scattered, but this time he
didn't give chase. He sat in the tree for just a moment then disappeared into
the woods.

Enjoy the birds,
