Good fortune was shining today even if the sun wasn't; a railroad crew had
Rt. 601 closed for work at the grade crossing, so I could park in the road
without worry and bird away. The Sandhill Crane flew across the field,
calling, around 3:40. I knew about the straight neck but the wing beats
and gliding landing are pretty distinctive, too. I refound it in the field
and got good scope looks. Did a little dance and floated back to work.
Good birding,
