A first winter Connecticut Warbler was among the ten species of warblers
found at Riverbend Park (Fairfax County) on this last morning of September. It
was
seen in the SW corner of the meadow (kitty-corner from the entrance to the
meadow from the nature center parking lot). Other warblers were:Tennessee,
Nashville, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Black-throated Green, Black-and-White,
Redstart, Ovenbird, and Yellowthroat.
Also seen this morning were 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Blue-head Vireo, 5
Phoebes, Swainson's Thrush, about 10 Indigo Buntings, plus migrating Blue Jay,
Flickers, and Red-eyed Vireos. Resident birds were very active as well.
Most of the activity occurred between 7:30 and 9:00 AM.
