VA Birders,
Today I compiled the lists I had kept of birds on my property here in Buchanan
County from Aug 23 to Oct 30 of this year. I had a total of 95 species in or
around my yard, both migrants and resident birds. There were 25 WARBLER
SPECIES, 10 SPARROW SPECIES, 4 SPECIES OF HAWKS AND OWLS, 6 WOOPECKER SPECIES,
5 FLYCATCHER SPECIES, 4 VIREO SPECIES, 5 SPECIES OF THRUSHES, 3 MIMID SPECIES,
4 FINCH SPECIES and others. For those interested the complete list follows. The
numbers to the right of migratory species are cumulative totals of birds
observed throughout the period. For non-migratory species the numbers represent
the highest number of that species observed at one time.
