VA-Birders,
I went out to Blandy Farm today with 4 friends, and we saw the Common
Moorhen at Lake Arnold at the same spot where Joanna Taylor saw it yesterday.
We
saw it this afternoon, but we saw neither the Pied-billed Grebes nor the Wood
Ducks.
Concerning directions to Blandy Farm, which is the VA State Arboretum, by
the way, I was advised that the Rt. 50 bridge over the Shenandoah River is
under construction, and that it is a mess to be avoided if possible.
Therefore,
I would suggest that anyone going there from the east or south take Rt. 66
west to Rt. 340, go north on Rt. 340 to Rt. 50, and then go east about 1 mile
on
Rt. 50 to Blandy Farm (entrance on the right).
