[va-bird] Claude Moore Park, Sterling, Va

Claude Moore Park was busy with birds this morning!

Canada Goose
Black Vulture
Belted Kingfisher
Northern Flicker
Downy Woodpecker
American Crow
Blue Jay
Carolina Chickadee
Carolina Wren
Ruby-Crowned Kinglet
Golden-Crowned Kinglet
Northern Mockingbird
American Robin
Yellow-Rumped Warbler
Dark-Eyed Junco
Northern Cardinal
House Finch
White-Throated Sparrow
Chipping Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Song Sparrow

May have seen a Prairie Warbler, but not certain. Fairly large flocks of
robins, juncos, WT sparrows. The yellow-rumped warblers filled the trees all
along Vestal Gap Road near the ponds. Dozens of robins were bathing in the
large puddles left by last night's rain in the middle of the road.

All right, here's another close encounter with a golden-crowned kinglet. It
landed next to me, about four feet away in a patch of thistle at Claude Moore
this morning. The bird could have cared less that I was standing there--just
went on nibbling away. Even when I made drastic movements to watch other
birds, it just stayed with me.

Good birding to all!
