Hello again VAbirders,
The snowy weather drove even more birds to our feeders today. While
putting out seed/suet I glanced up to see a Chipping Sparrow watching
me. It was sitting in a shrub at about my head high, perhaps 8' from me
and watching me fill the feeders. "Hello and Merry Christmas little bird,
what are you doing here?" I can't ever recall seeing a Chipping Sparrow in
our yard in December, and geewhiz, on Christmas!
And our monster bush was decorated with living Blue Jay ornaments as 11 of
the beauties perched in a tight cluster at the top of the shrub. I've
never seen that phenomena before either. Snow makes for fun yardbirding!
Best wishes,
